MANILA – The Philippine Red Cross (PRC), one of the most efficient partners of the government in battling the Covid-19 pandemic, has breached the 4-million mark in its reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) swab and saliva testing and has vaccinated 156,709 nationwide in its Bakuna Centers and buses nationwide as of Aug. 29.

As the premier humanitarian organization in the country, PRC will promote health and serve the vulnerable, assured chair and chief executive officer Senator Richard Gordon.

“From testing to vaccination, and all things in between, anything related to Covid-19 response, we will always act on it,” he said in a news release on Monday.

With the 4 million tests achieved through 14 molecular laboratories, PRC is the country’s top Covid-19 testing agency.

PRC’s vaccination program is also in full gear as Gordon stressed it is one of the keys to defeat the pandemic.

“As I said before, testing and vaccination are our primary weapons to win our war against Covid-19. As long as I am the head of Red Cross, we will stay true to our mantra of being always first, always ready, and always there, especially during the pandemic,” he said.

PRC Health Services manager Mark Abrigo said 138,020 were vaccinated in Bakuna Centers while 18,689 availed of the bus service.

Outside the vaccine supply from the government, the PRC shoulders all other costs, including but not limited to syringes, mobilization, and vaccinator allowances.

To register for PRC vaccination, call the PRC hotline at 1158.
