The City of Manila, under the leadership of Mayor Honey Lacuna, is set to begin the rehabilitation of the Lagusnilad Vehicular Underpass on May 2, 2023.

This was announced by Lacuna’s spokesperson Atty. Princess Abante said that during the road closure, alternative routes will be provided for motorists cruising Taft Avenue.

Abante assures that the project will bring numerous benefits to the city, including better road safety and fuel efficiency, adding that the lady mayor has highlighted the importance of the rehabilitation and its benefits to the community, thus: “The rehabilitation of the Lagusnilad Vehicular Underpass is a much-needed project that will greatly benefit our motorists and commuters. This underpass is an important route for those traveling to Taft Avenue, and it has long been in need of repair due to its deteriorating condition. We understand the inconvenience that this may cause to our commuters, but we assure everyone that we have taken measures to minimize disruption and ensure a smooth traffic flow.”

The Lagusnilad Vehicular Underpass, located at the heart of Manila, has been a cause for concern due to its poor condition.

The rehabilitation project will be undertaken for a period of at least four months, or until September 2023, to ensure that the road is safe and convenient for motorists and commuters.

Abante said there will be a groundbreaking ceremony for the Lagusnilad Vehicular Underpass Rehabilitation on May 2 at 8:30 a.m.

Lacuna will be joined by concerned local officials in the said event.

“The City of Manila remains committed to ensuring the safety and convenience of its residents and visitors. The rehabilitation of the Lagusnilad Vehicular Underpass is just one of the many initiatives aimed at improving the city’s infrastructure and providing better services to its constituents,” Abante said.
