THE office of Congressman Joel Chua (3rd district) launched a beauty pageant aimed at giving young ladies in the said district a chance to become the country’s next Miss Universe bet.
During the launch of the ‘Mutya ng Distrito 2023′, Chua said the pageant is aimed to open the doors for those aspiring to make it big in the world of promoting the district and possibly, even the country, in the future, by showcasing their beauty, talent and personality.
The pageant date itself will be held on May 13, 2023 at 8 p.m. at the Plaza Del Carmen (Bilivid Viejo St., Quiapo, Manila).
The beauty and personality search was participated in by representatives from the 16 Zones of District 3, Manila.
The candidates’ minimum qualification were as follows: registered voter from the zone they are representing, or parents are registered voters; 17 to 26 years old; single and with a minimum height of five feet and two inches.
Chua said each zone was made to choose their representative according to their own set of criteria.
Each candidate will be competing for the following categories: National Costume – made of 90% recycled materials; Casual Wear; Swimsuit Competition; Long Gown Competition and Talent Competition.
There will be three rounds, wherein the candidates will be judged according to beauty, pose and personality, talent and intelligence.
The winners will get cash awards, sash and bouquet. Apart from the winner, there will be four runners-up.
Minor and special awards will also be given for best in costume, long gown, swimsuit, casual wear and talent while non-winners will also get cash prizes.
The board of judges is composed of the following: Charlie Dungo, Director, Department of Tourism, Culture and Arts of Manila (DTCAM); B Viceral, promo officer of Vice Cosmetics; MPD -Station 14 chief Lt Col. Roberto Mupas; Ashley Montenegro, Miss Eco International Philippines 2022.
