Retired UE prof found dead inside water drum

A 64-YEAR-OLD retired professor of the University of the East was found dead inside a drum of water in her comfort room Tuesday afternoon in Malabon City.

The body of Emilie, single, was found submerged by her sister Thelma Loberto and niece at around 1 p.m., at the second floor of their house on Valdez St., Bgy. Catmon.

Malabon police homicide investigators P/SSgt. Corazon Nuque and P/SSgt. Ernie Baroy said the niece went to her aunt’s room to check if the latter had already disposed her garbage. Despite continued knockings on the door, the victim failed to respond, prompting the niece to ask her mother if her aunt was in her room.

The mother and daughter went inside the room but failed to see the victim then proceeded to the comfort room located near the kitchen.

When they turned on the light, they saw the victim submerged in the water drum, prompting them to lift the body and try to revive her but to no avail.

During investigation, probers recommended an t autopsy examination to determine the cause of the victim’s death but they refused and instead executed a waiver since they believed that no foul play had been committed on the incident.
