Riding-in-Tandem snatchers fall in Malabon

A NOTORIOUS riding-in-tandem snatchers involved in a series of robbery-snatching in Camanava (Caloocan Malabon Navotas Valenzuela) areas were arrested in a follow-up operation Thursday evening in Malabon City.

Antonio Guibone, 20, of 49 Anonas Street, Brgy. Potrero and Mark Leyner Olocan, 30 of 167 M.H. Del Pilar St., Brgy. Tenajeros were arrested by police and barangay officials of Brgy. Potrero after their latest victim identified as Rejoy Monghit, 22, factory worker sought their assistance and gave the description of the suspects and the motorcycle they were riding.

Monghit, a resident of Sitio 6, Bgy. Catmon, told Malabon police investigators P/MSgt. Julius Mabasa and P/SSgt. Ernie Baroy that he was riding a bicycle when the suspects blocked his path along Gov. Pascual Street at around 8:40 p.m.,snatched his cellphone worth P15.000 then sped off towards Bgy. Potrero.

Malabon police chief P/Col. Jessie Tamayao said another victim, Maribel Demerin, 54, of 86 Duhat Road, Bgy. Potrero, went to the police and positively identified Guibone as one of the two suspects riding on a motorcycle that snatched her cellphone last September 14 at the corner of Gov. Pascual Avenue and Atis Road at around 7:55 p.m.

Demerin told police that he recognized Guibone when the latter turned his head and stare at her while escaping on a motorcycle being driven by his cohort.

Police however failed to recover the cellphones of the victims while charges for robbery snatching will be filed against the suspects before the Malabon City Prosecutor’s Office.
