RK admits being affected by pandemic

RK Bagatsing
RK Bagatsing

RK Bagatsing was asked in the mediacon for TV5’s “I Got You” if he’s getting the same talent fee as what he’s been getting from ABS-CBN before, but he would rather not reveal exactly how much his salary now is.

“Let’s just say it’s enough,” he says. “The important thing is I like the project and parehong magaling ang leading ladies kong sina Jane Oineza and Beauty Gonzalez. Jane and I have worked in a drama show, ‘Araw Gabi’, and in a movie, ‘Us Again’ sa Regal, kaya we know each other na. Wala nang ilangan sa isa’t isa.”

We remember that they were linked to each other then and the rumor is that it was Jane who caused his breakup with his longtime girlfriend. It’s said his girlfriend got so jealous as his reel romance with Jane is turning into something real.

“Yes, nagkaroon nga ng ganung rumor, but it’s not true,” he says. “Nakakahiya nga kay Jane, but the truth is my girlfriend and I had a mutual decision na mag-break up and there is no third party involved. We just felt it’s time to move on as we’re no longer growing together anymore.”

How about Beauty Gonzalez? How is it working with her? “First time naming magkatrabaho and she’s okay. Very dedicated sa craft niya. When the story of ‘I Got You’ starts, kababalik lang ng character niya, si Del, sa Pilipinas after staying in Spain for several years. Kasama niya ‘yung anak niya, played by Chantal Videla, who’s 17 years old. It will turn out later na anak pala namin siya. Kami ni Beauty ang unang naging magkarelasyon pero lumayo siya sa akin at nag-abroad. Then na-meet ko naman si Jane as Risa and the story starts na kami na ang magkarelasyon.”

RK admits he was affected by the pandemic. “Yes, ang tagal na walang trabaho, hindi pa nabigyan ng franchise uli ang ABS-CBN, so bakante for several months. Buti na lang at may nai-save tayo at mabuti rin talagang dumating itong offer ng Brightlight Productions to do ‘I Got You’ sa TV5. We’re really enjoying doing it with our director, Dan VIllegas, na ibang-iba ang treatment sa usual love triangle material, kaya tiyak na masisiyahan ang viewers sa panonood nito every Sunday at 2 PM on TV5.”

Pia’s mom decides to take family scandal to Youtube

Pia Wurtzback

PIA Wurtzbach and her sister Sarah’s tiff is fodder for the gossip columns. You know how writers and the reading public love to read such stories about shame and scandal in the family. They obviously want to follow the notoriety of the Barretto sisters in displaying their linen in public.

Sarah declared she has no intention of patching things up with their mom, Cheryl Tyndall, who she called an “animal”. In her social media account, she said her mother did unspeakable things with her. She wrote: “She solicited me when I was younger in exchange for money, then I got gang raped and then raped again for the second time, and she told me, I deserved it.”

She was asked if she had any happy memories with her mom and she replied: “Mmmm, right now, no. I have pure hatred towards that animal.”

Their mom then replied to Sarah on Youtube along with her current husband, Nigel Tyndall, Pia and Sarah are the children of Cheryl with her first husband, a German named Uwe Wurtzbach, who died six years ago. Nigel said he is so mad with Sarah. He added: “It took a lot of times to think back over years of all the wrongs and bad things that were done to me and Cheryl, after we helped her.”

Cheryl confessed she went through a lot of hardships raising her two daughters:

“As a single mom po, napakahirap alagaan ng dalawang batang babae na mestiza. Talagang binabantayan ko po ang mga anak ko at ginawa ko ang lahat para protektahan sila. Kasi po, alam n’yo, after six years na wala kaming anak ng aking first husband dahil ayaw naman niyang magkaanak, talagang pinilit kong magkaanak.”

She denied soliciting money for her kids. “Gagawin ko ba naman ‘yan sa mga anak ko? Hindi po, hindi po ako ganyang tao, hindi po ako ganyang ina. Huwag niyo po akong husgahan kasi talaga pong inalagaan ko iyong aking mga anak.”

She says Sarah might just be undergoing post partum depression after giving birth recently. “I love my daughters. I don’t believe that she hates me so much. I know she loves me. I still believe that. I always think maybe it’s postpartum. I just want to believe that it’s just postpartum, harder than normal or worse than normal.”

Obviously, Mrs. Tyndall is also enjoying all the fame (or is “infamy” the better word) that this shame and scandal brouhaha is bringing them. Because Pia herself just kept quiet and didn’t make any reply at all, so things quickly quieted down between her and her sister. But their mom now goes on Youtube no less to air her side with her vlog titled “Sagot Sa mga Akusasyon sa Akin”. It’s so easy to settle all their differences in private, but she chooses to do it in social media for all the world to see. May it help increase the viewership of their vlogs so they can also monetize it. Or better yet, she should make sumbong to Raffy Tulfo as, for sure, they will get much wider exposure in his immensely popular show.

DINGDONG Dantes wants to remind followers of “Descendants of the Sun” that the fresh new episodes they worked on in a locking taping at Tanay, Rizal will start airing tonight on GMA-7.

“I’ve done many drama series but this is one that I’m really proud of,” says Dong who plays the lead role of Capt. Lucas or Big Boss. “It won awards in the Seoul Intertnational Drama Awards in Korea and I also won an award kaya memorable talaga ito for me. It makes me proud to be a Kapuso and a Filipino. We’re very excited to show our loyal viewers the continuation of ‘Descendants of the Sun’. It took a while but we’re very grateful that they stuck with us and continued to support us. Ito na ‘yun! We’re back with fresh episodes and it only gets better from here on. At ngayon, it will also be shown on Netflix starting November 13 at sa platform na ito, it will reach more viewers not only here but also abroad. I hope it will be a good step to give more projects to Filipino talents.”

Jennylyn Mercado, Dong’s leading lady as Dr. Maxine or Beauty, says she enjoyed her role as a doctor in the show. “We dedicate this series sa lahat ng frontliners nating naglilingkod sa sambayanan, kayo po ang inspirasyon namin sa seryeng ito. Nagpapasalamat din po kami sa lahat ng mga Kapuso natin na walang sawang sumusuporta sa ‘Descendants of the Sun’. Para sa inyo po ito at excited na po kami na mapanood n’yo ang pagpapatuloy ng kuwento dahil napakarami ng exciting scenes at mga pasabog na mapapanood nyo rito.”

Rocco Nacino who plays second lead as Diego Ramos or Wolf totally agrees with Dingdong. “I feel so fortunate to be part of the Philippine adaptation of ‘Descendants of the Sun’ as it really made a difference and has become a great game changer in its field,” says Rocco. “It’s so satisfying to know na naging bahagi ka ng isang show na tumatak talaga sa mga manonood as the first Filipino TV series na mapapanood sa international streaming channel na Netflix.”

All of them agree that “Descendants of the Sun” will be a tough act to follow. “Sa laki nito at sa scope, it’s really one of the biggest shows I’ve ever done,” adds Dingdong. “Ginastusan talaga ng GMA, inabot pa ng pandemya, at tinapos namin on lock in taping na naging unforgettable ang experiences naming lahat. Mahirap talagang mapantayan ito. After this, I don’t know yet kung ano ang susunod kong project, but I’m hoping na sana, maging kasingganda rin nito.”

Don’t miss the new episodes of “Descendants of the Sun” starting this Thursday on the Kapuso network, after “Encantadia”.
