AN unidentified armed man who was involved in a robbery was killed in armed encounter with the elements of the Highway Patrol Group (PROIVA) and Biñan City police Wednesday morning in Bgy.Langkiwa, Biñan City, Laguna.
Biñan City police chief PLT.Col. Giovanni Martinez said an armed encounter occurred between the suspect and one William Dagotdot Jr. , 26, security guard and resident of Bgy. Langkiwa, Biñan City.
The armed encounter occurred near the Langkiwa Service Road in Bgy. Langkiwa at around 2:55 a.m.
Initial investigation showed that a robbery had occurred earlier in Bgy. Timbao, Biñan City.
Authorities spotted and flagged down a black Honda Raider without plate number driven by suspect in Bgy. Langkiwa.
However, the suspect tried to escape. His motorcycle slid, causing him to fall down.
The suspect then fired at the responding policemen while trying to escape on foot. The cops retaliated, hitting the suspect and killing him on the spot. His cohort who was driving another motorcycle escaped.
Recovered from the crime scene was a pistol with live ammunition and several fired cartridge cases.
