Robber, drug dealer killed in Bulacan firefight

BULACAN policemen on Saturday and Sunday shot dead an armed robber and a drug trafficking suspect following separate encounters, a report to Police Regional Office 3 director, Brigadier General Rhodel O. Sermonia said yesterday.

Bulacan Police Provincial Office director, Colonel Lawrence B. Cajipe said the still unidentified robbery suspect was killed in a hot pursuit operation launched by operatives of the Pulilan Municipal Police Station shortly after he and three cohorts robbed a local gasoline station.

The official said the suspects who were on board two motorcycles held up employees of the Rapido Gasoline Station in Barangay Poblacion before fleeing. Local policemen who were informed of the robbery immediately put up a dragnet and eventually spotted one of the motorbike-riding suspects along NIA Road in Bgy. Cutcot around 9:45 p.m. Saturday.

Cajipe said members of the Pulilan police and the Bulacan PPO’s Provincial Intelligence Branch were about to accost the suspect in Sitio Dumayat in Bgy. Cutcot when he opened fire at them prompting officers to retaliate.

The suspect was hit and was taken to the Our Lady of Mercy Hospital in Bgy. Longos where he was pronounced dead upon arrival by an attending physician.

Recovered from the scene of the clash were a matt black Yamaha NMax without plate number, a caliber .45 pistol and six spent .45 cartridges. The other suspects are still being hunted as of press time, Cajipe said.

The other suspect identified as Rolando dela Cruz alias ‘Danding,’ a 41-year old drug surenderee, was killed in a gunfight with undercover officers of the Angat MPS Drug Enforcement Unit in Bgy. Sulucan at 5:30 a.m. Sunday.

Cajipe  said members of the Angat MPS headed by Major Michael Santos recovered a cal. .38 revolver with three spent casings and three live ammunition, eight heat-sealed plastic sachets containing shabu, a marked P1,000 bill and a motorcycle without license plate from the possession of the slain suspect.

He said dela Cruz is included in the unified drug watch list of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency and the Philippine National Police.
