Rolly to affect 31M pinoys

THE National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said between 19 to 31 million Filipinos could be affected by Supertyphoon Rolly as based on its track.

Our predictive analytics reflect between 19 million to 31 million individuals will possibly be affected by the storm based on the population count in the areas within the typhoon track,” NDRRMC spokesman Mark Timbal said.

Rolly made its second landfall over Tiwi, Albay at 7:20 a.m. on Sunday.

Because of the strong winds carried by Rolly, roofs of some evacuation centers in Albay were torn off.

Super Typhoon Rolly weakened into typhoon before noon on Sunday, but still posed a threat as Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 4 was still raised over 20 areas.

An update issued by state weather bureau PAGASA at around 11 a.m. showed that Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, Albay, the northern portion of Sorsogon (Donsol, Pilar, Castilla, Sorsogon City, Prieto Diaz, Gubat, Barcelona, Juban, Casiguran, Magallanes), Burias Island, Marinduque ,Metro Manila, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon including Polillo Islands, Pampanga, Bulacan,southern portion of Aurora (Dingalan) , Bataan , southern portion of Zambales (San Marcelino, San Felipe, San Narciso, San Antonio, Castillejos, Subic, Olongapo City, Botolan, Cabangan), northwestern portion of Occidental Mindoro(Mamburao, Paluan) including Lubang Island, northern portion of Oriental Mindoro (Puerto Galera, San Teodoro, Baco, Calapan City, Naujan, Pola, Victoria, Socorro, Pinamalayan) were placed under Signal number 4.
