Romero, Yap are Aparri champs

The Gattaran leg winners: Benito Go Que (Young Birds) and Egay Yap (Old Birds).

APARRI –  Emilio Romero and Egay Yap shared the limelight in the sixth and penultimate leg of the Philippine Homing Pigeon Association (PHA) North Young and Old Birds Series last  Nov. 18.

Romero and his PHA-18-1802280 – a blue bar hen out of C & G Koopman X Jaime Lim Crack 52 bloodline – clinched top honors in the Young Birds category with a speed of 1,209.635 meter per minute.

Romero won over Rey So, who took second and third places.

So and  PHA-18-1801537 – a  blue bar cock out of R. Florizoone X E. Devos – came in second with a speed of 1,207.126 meter per minute.

Another So entry, PHA-18-1801544 – a blue check cock out of R. Florizoone X Grizzle Line – wound up third with a speed of 1,206.981 meter per minute.

It was all So and Romero show in the Young Birds category.

So took fourth to eighth places, Romero bagged ninth place and So again had the 10th place.

Makati City Pabakuna

In the Old Birds class, Yap finished ahead of Johnson  Si and Burlington Loft to emerge back-to-back champion with the same bird.

Yap and PHA-18-1854221 – a blue check cock out of Stichelbaut X Lucky 8 Line —  repeated as champion with a time of  1,195.150  meter per minute.

(Stichelbaut X Lucky 8 Line also ruled the fifth leg in  Gattaran).

Si and PHA-18-2800792 – a blue bar white top hen out of Van den Broucke X Sablon – was second with a speed of 1,151.943  meter per minute; while Burlington Loft and PHA-18-1811726 – a blue bar hen out of Broken Wing X Vicente Ngo Line —  was third with a speed of 1,151.601 meter per minute.

The other top finishers are Victor Tan, fourth place; Paul Ung, fifth; Millennium Loft, sixth; Benito Go Que, seventh;  Paquito Ngo, eighth; Harry Sy, ninth; and Henry Tan, 10th.

In his report to PHA president Jaime “Jimi” Lim, racing chairman Nelson Chua said a total of 512 birds out of 794 birds from 81 lofts were clocked in the Young Birds category.
