UniTeam senatorial candidate Harry Roque would push for a salary increase of public school teachers and state universities and colleges (SUCs) professors.
Roque, a former full-time professor at the University of the Philippines-College of Law for 15 years, assured teachers of the increase under the government standardization law.
Roque taught public international and constitutional law, and also served as Director of the Institute of International Legal Studies at the UP Law Center.
Roque admitted that the salary of professors in SUCs is not enough.
“Alam ko po na ang suweldo natin ay palaging hindi sapat kaya po pag-aaralan natin na baka pwedeng itaas ang salary grade ng mga teachers nang sa ganon makakuha sila ng mas mataas na sahod sang-ayon po sa government standardization law,” he said in an interview with IBC 13 on Thursday.
If elected, Roque assured to use his post and law practice to improve the lives of every Filipino.
“You need to know why there is the law. You need to know that law is there because it advances the interest of mankind, and more importantly, I use the law to provide justice,” Roque said.
“I know the law, and I know how to use the law to make a change,” he stressed.
