Roque supports postponement of bgy polls to 2024

MALAY, Aklan – UniTeam senatorial candidate Harry Roque supports the postponement of barangay elections to 2024 because of delayed development due to the pandemic.

Roque said that P8 billion funds for holding the barangay elections this year should instead be used for the delayed projects.

He said that President Rodrigo Duterte had supported the postponement of barangay elections.

“President and I fully support na ipagpaliban ang barangay elections to 2024.

In 2019, Duterte agreed to push back the barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections from May 2020 to December 2022.

Meanwhile, Roque commended the barangay officials for helping the Duterte administration in fighting the COVID19 virus.

“During the pandemic po, kayo po ang tumulong sa Presidente na ‘Mask, Hugas, Iwas at Magpabakuna’ at dahil lahat po kayo at tumulong sumunod ang taumbayan, we have won against COVID19,” he said.
