Roque wants to set up textbook committee

UniTeam senatorial candidate Harry Roque wants to set up a textbook and module committee following reports of numerous errors in educational modules being used for distance learning.

A University of the Philippines law professor, Roque said that textbooks and modules should be reviewed carefully before handing them over to students to prevent factual and grammatical errors.

“Talagang importanteng pag-aralan ‘yung mga libro at tska ‘yung mga modules na ginagamit ng ating kabataan. Mahalaga po na bago natin ibigay sa learners ay masiguro natin na accurate ang information,” Roque told lawyer Trixie Angeles in a recent interview.

“Importante rin po lalung-lalo na ‘yung grammar na mapagtuunan din ng pansin dahil dadlhin po ito ng bata hanggang sa paglaki niya,” he stressed.

Factual and grammatical errors have been reported since the pandemic two years ago. From October 2020 to June 2021 alone, the Department of Education (DepEd) said 155 confirmed errors were found in materials used for distance learning.
