National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Director Jaime Santiago apologized for the “selfie” pictures of dismissed Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo with some personnel from the agency.
It was learned that Santiago also issued a reprimand regarding the controversy.
So, as a sign of relief sa paghihirap natin, talagang lahat ng kasiyahan na itu-turnover sa atin without any exchange, walang kondisyon,” he added.
Santiago said that when the agents first saw Guo, they immediately sent a piicture as proof that they already have her.
The agents concerned, he said, explained that they were just too happy that all their efforts paid off and that the smiles on their faces is a sign of relief regarding the sucess of Guo’s capture.
Just the same, Santiago stressed that he is not condoning the ‘selfie’ and that professionalism must be maintained at all times.
It was learned that a ‘debriefing’ of the concerned NBI agents was also conducted upon their return to the country.
“Mission accomplished! Ganoon ang paliwanag nila sa akin at naunawaan ko naman,” Santiago said, after talking to the said agents.
Meanwhile, he said a money laundering case had been filed against Guo and her cohorts at the Department of Justice (DOJ).
