Sara: Leave me out of presidential surveys

DAVAO City Mayor Sara Duterte asked survey groups to remove her name from the choices in a presidential election.

Responding to the recent Pulse Asia survey which she topped as a choice for president, Duterte said she wanted to focus on her job in helping the people of Davao and the entire Mindanao survive the coronavirus pandemic.

“The presidential elections of 2022 is farthest from the minds of many Filipinos as we focus firmly on how to survive the economic and humanitarian crisis still in front of us,” Duterte said.

“Nevertheless, I respectfully suggest to survey organizations to remove my name from the choices,” the presidential daughter said.

Mayor Duterte, chairperson of Hugpong ng Pagbabago (HNP), once said during 2019 national elections campaign that she would disclose her presidential plans this January of 2021.

In the recent Pulse Asia findings, Duterte is the number one choice of the survey resondents to be the next President. She got 26 points.

She was followed by former Senator Bongbong Marcos and Senator Grace Poe, both with 14 points, Manila Mayor Isko Moreno with 12 points, and Sen. Manny Pacquiao with 10 points.

Vice President Leni Robredo was the sole opposition candidate who made the list with 8 points which put her in 6th place.

For vice president, the preferences are Moreno (17 points); Duterte (16 points); Senate President Vicente Sotto III (14 points) and Marcos and Pacquiao (11 points).

The survey results have not been made public yet by the pollster. It was made between November 23 to December 2 and had 2,400 respondents.
