SENATOR Erwin Tulfo expressed agreement to the proposal of his colleague, Senator Alan Peter Cayetano for a change in the country’s current set of leaders, but with a significant twist: he wants all other elected officials to be included, from the top down to the barangay level.
“Why not include all elected officials from top officials down to the barangay level?”, Tulfo said.
He also posed questions such as if holding snap elections will even be possible at this time and where the country will get the budget for it.
According to Tulfo, a law needs to be passed in order to fund the exercise which needs at least two years of preparation and billions to cover the expenses.
Tulfo issued the pronouncements in reaction to a call made by Cayetano over social media for a snap election and for officials from Congress to Malacanang to step down for a fresh slate or ‘a completely new set of leaders,” saying it was the only way to bring back public trust in government amid the recent scandals regarding flood control programs.
