A senior citizen was arrested for allegedly raping his 14-year-old stepdaughter repeatedly within a three-year period, right in their shared home in Baseco, Manila.
The suspect denied the charges but PLtCol. Emmanuel Gomez of the Manila Police District-Police Station 13 said the victim was hesitant to file a complaint because the suspect had threatened to kill her and her sibling and that he will no longer support their studies.
It was learned that the rape took place three times a month and that the victim’s ordeal was only known when the victim’s teacher noticed that she did not report to school for a week.
When the victim narrated her ordeal to her teacher, the latter coordinated with the Department of Social Welfare and Development whose representatives accompanied the victim to the MPD-PS 13 for the filing of a formal complaint which resulted in the suspect’s arrest.
The victim is now under the care of her real father and is undergoing psychosocial intervention.
