Shabu seized from rider with no helmet

A 25-YEAR-OLD rider who was flagged down for not wearing a safety helmet ended up being arrested after police officers found three plastic sachets containing shabu in his possession Tuesday afternoon in Makati City.

Daniel Javier, of 178 18th Avenue corner Apitong St., Bgy. Comembo even tried to escape after P/SSgt. Ronnie Aseboque and Pat. Carobin Palatan found out that he had no driver’s license and was driving an unregistered motorcycle.

However, Javier was cornered after a brief chase at the corner of Yakal and Apitong Streets at around 2 p.m. prompting policemen to conduct a procedural body search that led to the discovery of more or less 3.0 grams of shabu from his possession with an estimated street value worth P20,400.

Makati police chief P/Col. Harold Depositar said the suspect will be presented for inquest proceedings before the Makati City Prosecutor’s Office on charges for possession of illegal drugs under R.A. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Act of 2002 and an additional charge for traffic violation for not wearing helmet and driving an unregistered motor vehicle without driver’s license.
