MAYOR Honey Lacuna said anything that would promote Manila is most welcome.
The lady mayor said this, as she graced the watch party marking the official premiere of the television series ‘”FPJ’s Batang Quiapo”.
Said event was held at the Plaza Miranda in Quiapo last February 13. Its first episode was shown via a big screen installed opposite the Quiapo Church.
Lead actor Coco Martin was in attendance along with his co-stars in the said TV series which is an adaptation of the 1986 movie starring the late National Artist Fernando Poe Jr.
Lacuna, who was accompanied by Vice Mayor Yul Servo and actor-councilor Lou Veloso, among others, said that any show that features any part of Manila in a good light is highly appreciated by the city government.
According to Lacuna, such shows are expected to draw the attention and curiosity of many, including tourists both local and international.
With visitors pouring into the city, Lacuna said Manila’s promenade destinations will be boosted along with the businesses in their vicinity, thus revving up the economy of the city.
Manila third district Congressman Joel Chua, whose jurisdiction covers Quiapo, echoed Lacuna’s pronouncements saying with the shooting being done in Quiapo alone, business in the area will thrive, benefitting the residents and ultimately, the city.
Lacuna and Chua both expressed gratitude for the use of Quiapo in the said TV series.
Chua has filed a bill in Congress declaring certain the immediate environs of Quiapo Church, Plaza Miranda, San Sebastian Church and Plaza del Carmen as National Heritage Zone.
