“Sa maikling panahong nakasama ko po ang isang Mayor Honey Lacuna, isang bagay na talagang hinangaan ko sa kanya ay ang sinseridad ng kanyang puso…Ang tanging naramdaman ko po ay isa lang. Siya ay isang nanay na gagawin ang lahat para sa kanyang mga anak.”

With these powerful words, singer Angeline Quinto formally endorsed the candidacy of reelectionist Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna, citing how proud she is of her.

“Kaya gaya ng pagsuporta ko at ng aking buong pamilya, sa lahat ng kapwa ko Manilenyo, narito ang kauna-unahang babaeng mayor, ang ina ng ating lungsod, number 5 (sa balota), Dra. Mayor Honey Lacuna!” Quinto said in introducing the lady mayor.

Appearing at the proclamation rally held by the Asenso Manileño on Earnshaw Street fronting the Loreto Church, where the lady mayor vowed before God and Manilans to continue providing a “Tapat at Tototo” kind service based on good principles, good character and honor, Quinto took pride that she is a citizen of Manila and that Lacuna is its mayor.

Quinto brought goosebumps to the crowd as she sang her famous song, ‘Patuloy ang Pangarap’ after asking for Manilans to support and reelect Lacuna like her entire family would.

Her song was an apparent reference to Lacuna’s envisioned “Magnificent Manila in 2030,” under which the lady mayor was able to start essential social services programs despite having to set aside P100 million every month to pay for the P17.8 billion debt left behind by the previous administration of Isko Moreno.

In the middle of her song, Quinto went into a short break and asked for the indulgence of the audience, as she shared her reason for supporting the lady mayor.

According to Quinto she is a very proud ‘Anak ng Maynila,” adding: “Alam nyo po, sa totoo lang, masayang-masaya po ako at talagang ipinagmamalaki ko po na sa nakaraang tatlong taon ay nagkaroon po tayo ng isang ina na talagang mapagmahal at totoong-totoo.”

Quinto is a resident of Sampaloc, the same district where Lacuna resides and began her career as a lady doctor in Manila before starting her political career as a city councilor way back in 2004. She finished her three terms before serving as social welfare officer, Vice Mayor for two terms and mayor, becoming the first woman to hold the two highest positions in the city in succession.
