Cagayan de Oro City – The spirit of faith and unity was on full display at the Sinulog Festival Dance Competition held at the City Jail of Cagayan de Oro. The event, which brought together 207 Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL) participants and an audience of 3,082 PDL, showcased vibrant performances that honored the Santo Niño and celebrated the Filipino values of faith, community, and joy.
The competition took place at the Cagayan de Oro City Jail-Male Dormitory (CDOCJ-MD), Purok Malipayon, and Purok Mahigugmaon, with the full support of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) Regional Office 10. Under the leadership of JSUPT MARLON J YMBALLA, DSC, City Jail Warden, and in the presence of JCSUPT CESAR M LANGAWIN, Regional Director of BJMP Region 10, the event highlighted the collective devotion of the participants to the Sinulog Festival, which honors the Child Jesus, Santo Niño.
JINSP LYN M BERNIL, Chief of the Welfare and Development Section, oversaw the event, ensuring that the competition ran smoothly while fostering a sense of camaraderie among the PDL. The judges for the competition included JCINSP JEZA MAE SARAH C SANCHEZ, JSINSP MARY ROSE S PACANA, and HON. BENHUR CALAM, whose expertise helped determine the winners.
