Smart launches double roaming data for global Filipinos – Available in 135 destinations

5G Roaming Service

PLDT wireless unit Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart) launches double roaming data for the price of one, for customers around the world.

Available in 135 destinations, Smart offers data roaming plans for as low as P83 per day. The Roam Facebook data package allows customers to access Facebook and Messenger for P150/1 day (200MB) or P250/3 days (400MB). Customers can also avail of the Roam Lite data package to surf the web or use other social apps for P150/1 day (200MB) or P250/3 days (400MB). Smart roaming subscribers can enjoy these promos until July 31, 2021. To explore more roaming data offers, customers overseas can visit roam.smart.com.ph or use the GigaLife app.

“Smart continues to create affordable and convenient roaming offers to help Filipinos realize their passion and purpose, strengthen their connections, and fulfill their goals wherever they are in the world,” said Alice Ramos, Vice President and Head of Roaming and Consumer Business at Smart. “With our customers as our True North, we aim to bring our world-class roaming services closer to them,” Ramos added.

This offer comes at the heels of Smart’s extensive 5G roaming rollout in 18 countries with 26 partners, such as AT&T (USA); True and AIS (Thailand); Sunrise (Switzerland); SmarTone and Hong Kong Telecommunications (Hong Kong); Pelephone (Israel); Turkcell (Turkey); Zain, Ooredoo, and STC (Kuwait); StarHub (Singapore); NTT Docomo (Japan); Vodafone (Australia); TDC (Denmark); Viettel (Vietnam); Zain (Bahrain); Mobily and Zain (Saudi Arabia); China Mobile and China Unicom (China); Etisalat and du (United Arab Emirates); FarEasTone and T-Star (Taiwan); and KT Corp (South Korea).

The Philippines’ fastest mobile data network

These services are powered by Smart, the Philippines’ fastest mobile data network, as reported by third-party mobile internet analytics firms such as Ookla® and Opensignal.

Ookla named Smart as the Philippines’ fastest mobile data network in the second half of 2020 after it achieved a Speed Score™ of 24.99, with average speeds of 20.08 Mbps for download, and 7.42 Mbps for upload, based on 3,915,679 user-initiated tests taken with Speedtest®. Ookla has cited Smart as the country’s fastest mobile data network for three years in a row now.

On the other hand, Smart has scored a rare sweep in the April 2021 Philippines Mobile Network Experience Awards* by independent analytics firm Opensignal, beating the competition across all metrics in three essential aspects of service: Coverage (4G Coverage Experience, 4G Availability), Speed (Download and Upload Speed) and Experience (Games, Video and Voice app).

Smart also enables subscribers to enjoy their favorite content seamlessly with Smart 5G, the fastest 5G network in the Philippines, also according to Ookla. Based on consumer-initiated tests taken using Speedtest® by Ookla, Smart has consistently posted the fastest 5G speeds for Q1 2021, with median download speeds of 190 Mbps – more than double the competition’s speeds for the same period.

Global benchmarking company umlaut also recently gave Smart the ‘Best in Test’ award, recognizing Smart for delivering the best-rated broadband coverage, user download experience and latency experience, despite challenges of the pandemic and more stringent benchmarking guidelines.

Germany-based umlaut said Smart posted an overall score of 747 out of a maximum of 1,000 points in umlaut’s benchmarking survey. This score includes Smart’s performance in terms of broadband coverage, download speed, and latency. This is the third year in a row that Smart has received this accolade.
