Snatcher nabbed by rookie cop

A 40-year-old vendor was arrested after stealing a cellphone from an employee and subsequently being cornered by a rookie patroling Manila policeman who pursued him, on Banquero Street in Binondo, Manila.

Nabbed by Manila Police District – Special Mayor’s Reaction Team (MPD – SMaRT) operatives was suspect Roberto Saniel, of No. 24 Basan St., Quiapo, Manila.

The suspect had been charged with robbery at the Manila Prosecutor’s Office, according to SMaRT chief PMajor Edward Samonte.

Samonte said the victim, identified as Renato Jamora, 56, of No. 449 Burke St.,Sta.Cruz, Binondo, Manila, was walking alone in the area when the suspect snatched his Samsung 5 Galaxy cellphone.

The suspect then fled on foot toward Jones bridge and was chased by the victim, until they were seen by Pat. Joel Guarin and PSSg Dindo Liquiran who were then aboard a mobile car.

The victim yelled for help and the cops pursued the suspect until he got cornered. The victim’s cellphone was recovered.
