Sofia eyes second chance like Jennylyn

Sofia Andres

SOFIA Andres is turning 22 come August 24 and she’s now an unwed mom and has no plans of tying the knot soon with BF Daniel Miranda, the father of her baby girl named Zoe. Daniel has movie star good looks himself and comes from a well to do family.

“We thought it best not to rush things just because we have a baby na,” says Sofia. “It would be much better kung mas makikilala pa naming mabuti ang isa’t isa and to establish more bonding with him and our daughter.”

Sofia is with ABS-CBN but she got her big breaks in movies made outside of the Kapamilya network. We were so impressed with her in first starring role in Spring Films’ “Relaks, It’s Just Pag-ibig”, the promising directorial debut of Irene Villamor who has since then become one of Viva’s established resident directors.

Sofia then starred in several movies made by Regal, like the horror flick “Pwera Usog”, the comedy “Our Mighty Yaya” and in the family drama “Mama’s Girl” where she played Sylvia Sanchez’ rebellious daughter. She also starred in Viva’s “Kahit Ayaw Mo Na”. She could have achieved more success but then, she suddenly vanished and it turned out she got preggy out of wedlock.

People are now asking if she could still make a comeback and we don’t see any reason why she could not. Folks thought Jennylyn Mercado’s career is over when Patrick Garcia knocked her up and she gave birth to a love son. But look at her now, she’s one of GMA-7’s biggest stars and she has also become a truly fine actress.

Sofia should just be patient and wait for the right timing for her to stage a comeback. At this point, it’s useless to do so since ABS-CBN, her home studio, has been shut down and the movie industry is down in the doldrums because of the corona pandemic. She should just devote all her time to her baby girl since she claims she’s very happy with her and Zoe’s dad.

Sofia says Daniel is a very caring dad to their daughter. “Siya yung mas OC (obsessive compulsive) between the two of us,” she adds. “Laging chine-check ang temperature ni Zoe at konting sipon lang, dinadala na agad sa doctor. I am really grateful for my partner and our baby. I am so thankful kay Lord na merong mga katulad nila sa life ko ngayon.”

She’s now also in better terms with her own parents. “Dati kasi, very protective sila sa akin at galit na galit ako so nagrebelde ako. But now, I understand them better why they were strict with me. Mas na-appreciate ko kung gaano nila ako kamahal. Nag-sorry naman ako sa kanila for what happened, kasi hindi naman din sinasadya. They’re very understanding naman and told me na blessing daw si Zoe sa amin. So I’m thankful thay they were able to forgive me and very supportive sila ngayon sa akin.”
