SENATORS have expressed support to the government’s decision to put areas with unusually high COVID 19 cases under General Community Quarantine (GCQ).
At the same time, lawmakers also urged the executive department to make adjustments depending on changing conditions.
Senator Panfilo ‘Ping’ Lacson asked the government to make announcement earlier to allow business to adjust their planned activities accordingly.
“In any case, continuing assessment is key. That’s how it works,” Lacson said.
Senator Sonny Angara, for his part, said at this stage with close to 8,000 cases a day and with hospital covid wings filling up again, the government have little choice.
“Na-o-overwhelm na naman ang health system natin unfortunately and we have to take steps to stop the rapid spread of the virus,” Angara said.
Senator Win Gatchalian, meanwhile, recommended drastic measures on top of greater Metro Manila bubble.
Gatchalian’s recommended measures include strict LGU-led localize lockdowns; no gatherings; NCR cities should have their own PCR testing laboratories; No home quarantines and implementation of vaccine.
On the other hand, Senator Joel Villanueva expressed concern on the availability of public transportation amid re-implementation of GCQ protocols in Metro Manila, Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna and Rizal.
Senator Imee Marcos stressed that community quarantine protocols must be strictly implemented.
“Why are we back at square one or worse. After a horrific year? Wag ng ECQ, GCQ with variations.
Publication Source : People's Tonight
