THE Global AI Council Philippines’ inaugural State of the Nation in AI (SONAI) 2025, held on January 30th, brought together government and private sector leaders to discuss the nation’s AI roadmap.
Key figures like DICT Secretary Ivan John Uy and DOST Secretary Renato Solidum Jr. highlighted the government’s commitment to AI development, emphasizing President Marcos Jr.’s vision and a significant P2.6 billion investment in AI projects across various sectors.
The event featured discussions on the frontier of AI, its impact on key industries, and empowering consumers in the AI era, with participation from leading companies and experts.
Brian Poe Llamanzares, Chair of the Global AI Council Philippines, stressed the importance of sustained collaboration in AI development.
He framed SONAI 2025 not as a singular event, but as the beginning of an ongoing national dialogue, proposing its continuation as an annual congress to track progress and foster collaboration.
“SONAI 2025 is not just for the council, but for the country. This initiative is about bringing everyone together to recognize the opportunities AI presents,” Poe stated.
Poe emphasized the Philippines’ readiness to embrace AI’s opportunities, urging continued engagement to ensure the nation benefits from this transformative technology.
He concluded with a call to action, highlighting the need for sustained discussion and a collective voice to harness AI’s potential for national development.
