Sorsogon City — To pay tribute to women who embody strength, sacrifice, and unconditional love, the Sorsogon City District Jail (SCDJ) honored its devoted Jail Officer and PDL mothers through a surprise celebration held on May 14, 2025, at the New WD Office.
The celebration, led by JCINSP Louie Angelo C. Ungria, Acting Warden, was a sincere expression of appreciation for the 13 remarkable mothers within the jail community. Alongside JO2 Dennis B. Sabater, JO2 Byron J. Sapdoy, JO2 Joven A. Poguilla, Escort Officers, and JO2 Jeremeo E. Calosor (Paralegal Officer), the event was made possible through teamwork, care, and the desire to uplift and honor motherhood.
What began as a simple idea by JCINSP Ungria — to make mothers feel remembered and loved — turned into an emotional and joyous gathering. The program opened with warm messages from the Acting Warden, jail personnel, and PDL mothers themselves. Emotions ran high as JO1 Jayson V. Trampe delivered a touching song performance, prompting everyone to join in a spontaneous dance that filled the room with laughter and tears.
The celebration concluded with a shared feast, thoughtfully prepared and cooked by the male personnel — a gesture that symbolized the unity and family-like bond among those within the facility.
The surprise brought many to tears, not of sadness, but of joy and gratitude. It served as a reminder that even within walls, love and appreciation can flourish.
“Behind bars or beyond them, a mother’s love deserves to be celebrated,” JCINSP Ungria said.
In honoring these mothers, the SCDJ not only recognized their roles as caregivers and nurturers but also reminded them — and everyone present — that they are never forgotten.
