Mobile users of Globe Telecom Inc. in Bulacan are said to be experiencing more consistent mobile data services based on the latest report from US Internet testing firm Ookla.

Globe said Ookla’s ‘mobile consistency score’ for Bulacan has continued to improve from 59.43 percent during the third quarter of 2020 to 62.23 percent during the fourth quarter of 2020

“The score measures the number of incidences that an internet provider’s samples equal or exceeds both download threshold of 5 megabits per second (Mbps) and an upload threshold of 1 Mbps,” Globe said.

It said the improvement came after the construction of 44 new towers and upgrade of 729 sites in 24 cities and towns in the province as one of the company’s “priority areas.”

“Overall, the company was able to install 1,300 new cell sites and made 11,544 site upgrades last year which resulted in better mobile experience to its customers in different areas in the country,” Globe said.

Ookla rated Globe’s overall consistency score during the fourth quarter of 2020 at 60.82 percent, an improvement from the previous 56.83 percent during the third quarter of 2020.

“The company recorded improvements as high as 10 percentage points, with consistency scores ranging from 39 percent and 65 percent in Q4 2020,” Globe said.

Aside from ramping up investment in its network infrastructures, Globe touted other products and services that support its users during the pandemic such as the HealthNow mobile application and GInsure that offers cash assistance and health insurance.
