‘Spiderman’ loots  tire shop of P.5M

AN unidentified thief who used his skill in climbing into the roof like “Spiderman” carted away more than half a million cash from a tire shop in Malabon City.

The burglar took only several minutes to open the three vaults inside the Goodyear Autocare located at Lot C-03 Dagat-Dagatan, Brgy. Longos before he successfully carted away a total of P562,000, including US$ 2,000 on Thursday before dawn.

The incident was discovered by Gregorio Macalos, 55, caretaker of the establishment, when he reported for work at about 7 a.m. and discovered that the door of the tire shop was already open.

When Macalos went inside, he was surprised to see that the office was in total disarrayed, prompting him to report the incident to his employer, Victor Araga, 68, resident of 12 Salinas Street, Bgy.

Longos, who immediately rushed to the establishment to find out what happened.

Malabon police chief P/Col. Jessie Tamayao said the incident was reported to the police at around 3 p.m. and during the course of investigation conducted by P/SSgt. Diego Ngippol and P/Cpl.

Michael Oben, it was discovered the break-in occurred at around 1 a..m.

A footage captured by close a circuit television (CCTV) camera installed inside the establishment showed the suspect gained entry by climbing to the rooftop then descended into the office before forcibly opening the three vaults.
