Altas clinch breakthrough win in D-League

JEFNER Egan dazzled as University of Perpetual Help System Dalta scored a breakthrough 71-65 victory over Diliman-Gerry’s yesterday in the PBA D-League at the Paco Arena.

Egan shot 25 points, as the Bukidnon native joined forces with Tonton Peralta in delivering the finishing touches in the final 4:09 to help the Altas enter the win column in the Foundation Group.

“I thought we did very well in the first half because of our defense and I think that propelled us in our offense. But in the third quarter, it was a simple collapse on our part,” said Perpetual Help coach Frankie Lim.

Later, Sean Manganti drilled in 14 of his 20 points in the second half while Jessie Collado had a double-double effort of 19 points and 12 rebounds as Che’Lu Bar and Grill overpowered Batangas-EAC, 89-63, to tie idle Cignal-Ateneo in third place at 2-1.

Peralta added 13 points and four boards in a reserve role, while Jielo Razon contributed 12 points, six rebounds and four assists for the Altas.

The Altas zoomed to a 17-4 lead and were much ahead, 38-24 at the half, before the Blue Dragons stormed back to tie the game at 50-50 entering the payoff period.

For Lim, Perpetual Help is committed on improving with every game.
