Professionals that they are, PBA players should be disciplined enough to stay safe and maintain the bubble everyone is hoping to keep for PBA Season 45 to be salvaged.

San Miguel Beer coach Leo Austria is positive on that, optimistic each PBA individual can do his part in a common goal to get the league back in play by September.

"I believe those personnel sa PBA, as a player or as a coach, hindi naman sila makakarating dito sa puntong ito kung walang disiplina," he said in a TV5 report.

"Ito yung job mo, and then dapat may safety. I think as a whole, kayang-kaya naman ng mga players mag-comply," added Austria, one of those pushing to save Season 45 where his team, SMB, was off to a triumphant start with a win over Magnolia in the season inaugural on March 8.

Then came the season suspension stalling the Beermen's drive for a seventh straight all-Filipino crown.

But Austria is hopeful a concerted effort can be done to stop the long PBA lull and get everyone back to their job and passion.

He stressed the importance of strictly following the guidelines and protocols approved by the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Disease.

"Parang nasa bubble rin kami. From practice to pag-uwi sa bahay, we have to be disciplined and sumunod sa regulations. Ang mangyayari, bahay-venue lang. Ganoon ang mangyayari para maiwasan yung transmissions," he said.

From this day to the possible season restart in September, Austria sees no difficulty on the part of the players to get back in shape.

"I think the players, they are professional. They know kung ano ang kulang nila," he explained. "Most probably, ang gagawin nila ay what your role with the team is. Kung big man ka, most of the time sa poste ka, close to the basket. If you're a shooter, syempre sa perimeter yan. Just to feel the court dahil for four months, yung iba talagang di nila nakikita ang mga arena eh."

And Austria said the hiatus benefited the injury-hit players.

Among those trying to catch up is San Miguel's main man June Mar Fajardo. (SB)
