ALLEN Durham, Baser Amer and three others shone on offense as Meralco beat Phoenix, 111-94, for its second straight win in the 2019 PBA Governors’ Cup on Sunday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Durham tallied 27 points and 12 rebounds while Amer was just as impressive in his 26-point explosion in a performance highlighted with four steals and four triples as they provided a 1-2 punch for the Bolts.

Raymond Almazan was also solid as he chipped in 14 points and 12 rebounds, while Kier Quinto added 14 and Chris Newsome 13 points and 11 assists in one of Meralco’s best showing on both ends thus far.

The Bolts, who were coming off a 101-75 rout of Alaska last Oct 4, have now clinched their third win in four outings to stay at fourth spot.

Phoenix’s import Eugene Phelps also had excellent performance with 31 points and 24 rebounds but could not draw enough sparks from the rest, and only RJ Jazul and RR Garcia managed to finish in double figures.

Jazul finished with 11 points and Garcia 10 for the Fuel Masters who slumped again after nosing out the Gin Kings last Sept 28 and fell to 1-4.

Meanwhile, NLEX rallied from 28 points down and survived playing without an import in overtime for a 113-111 nipping of Barangay Ginebra late Saturday night at the Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai.

Olu Ashaolu, who fouled out late in the regulation, cut loose with 25 points while Poy Erram, Philip Paniamogan, Keifer Ravena and Jericho Cruz also finished in double figures for the Road Warriors who clamped down on the Gin Kings’ defense to nail the come-from-behind win.
