Bulldogs, Generals stay in the running

SMDC-NU and Batangas-EAC kept their playoff hopes alive after posting contrasting victories yesterday in the PBA D-League at the JCSGO Gym.

The Bulldogs made quick work of CD14 Designs-Trinity University of Asia, 107-75, in a duel of winless teams while Crisantoni Dela Peña hit a go-ahead lay-up in the final 13.8 seconds as the Generals escaped with a 91-90 win over FamilyMart-Enderun.

Ending a five-game winless spell, SMDC stayed in playoff contention in the Foundation Group, while Batangas improved to 2-5 in the Aspirants' Group to stave off elimination.

John Lloyd Clemente shared the scoring mantle with Dave Ildefonso for the Bulldogs with 18 points while Shaun Ildefonso contributed 17 points.

Joseph Kouakoa scored a putback off a Marvin Hayes miss that gave the Titans a 90-89 advantage with 31.1 seconds remaining.

FamilyMart came so close of getting the elusive first win but it could not get the job done.
