Duremdes in Usapang Sports

THE first-ever Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League ( MPBL) All-Star Weekend will be the main topic in the 11th “Usapang Sports”  by the Tabloid Organization in Philippine Sports (TOPS) on Thursday,  Feb. 21 at the National  Press Club in Intramuros .

MPBL Commissioner Kenneth Duremdes will discuss the All-Star festivities set  March 2 at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay.

The  festivities will  include the Three-Point Shootout, the Slam Dunk contest, the 2-Ball competition, the Executive Match and the centerpiece North versus South All-Star game.

The final list of players who will be included in the All-Star Weekend will be known at the end of thevoting on Feb. 24.

Coaching the North All-Star is Jojo Lastimosa of the Bataan Risers-Zetapro while handling the South team is Don Dulay of the Davao Occidental-Cocolife.

Among the players expected to play are  Aris Dionisio of Manila, Gary David of Bataan, JR Taganas of Bulacan,  Larry Rodriguez of San Juan and Paolo Hubalde of Valenzuela for the North;  and Allan  Mangahas of Muntinlupa, Mark Yee of  Davao Occidental, Jeff Viernes of Batangas,  Gab Banal of  Bacoor for the South.

TOPS president Ed Andaya of People's Tonight is  inviting all officers and  members to attend the weekly  10 a.m. session supported by  the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) and  National Press Club.

The other TOPS officers re Dennis Eroa of Inquirer Bandera and Beth Repizo of Pilipino Ngayon, vice-presidents; Edwin Rollon of Balita, secretary; Nympha Miano-Ang of Bulgar, treasurer; Ferdz de los Santos of Abante, auditor; and Frederick Nasiad of Bandera, Rico Navarro of Remate, Jeff Vinancio of Police Files; Danny Simon of HOY, directors.
