Grace Christian, St. Stephen score

GRACE  Christian College clobbered Philippine Cultural College, 78-54, and St. Stephen High School  outplayed Jubilee Christian Academy, 71-65, in the continuation of the elimination round action in  the Tanduay Athletics- Metro Manila Tiong Lian (MMTL)  Alumni 40  years old and above  basketball championship at the CKSC gym last Nov. 26.

Francis Walden  Sy, Emerson Dee, Jason Chua  and  Dexter Quan shared scoring honors for Grac e Christian, which  played just hard enough to beat PCC and clinch its second straight win in the nine-team tournament featuring top alumni players from leading Filipino-Chinese schools in Metro Manila.

Sy finished with 15 points, five rebounds and two steals in 22 minutes for Grace Christian, which debuted with a victory over St. Stephen last Nov. 12.

Dee and Chua added 14 points apiece, whiel Quan contributed 11 points, nine rebounds and three assists.

Richard Rondael had10 points, four assists and three rebounds for PCC, which  remained winless in three outings.

Ian Lopez backed up Rondael with nine points and nine rebounds.

In  the  second  game. Patterson Ngo  topscored with 24 points as St. Stephen snapped a two-game losing skid with a victory over Jubilee.

Franklin Lee and Lawrence Ngo also added  nine points apiece and Iven Wilson Kho  had a game-high 20 rebounds for St. Stephen.

Lester Ong carried the fight for JCA with 17 points and nine rebounds, followed by Jerry Uy with 13. Last Nov. 23,  Chiang Kai   Shek College and Xavier School pulled off contrasting victories over  their respective rivals  at the Tanduay gym in Manila.

CKSC leaned on a strong finish to bring down erstwhile unbeaten Uno High School, 59-56, for its second straight win while Xavier played just hard enough to subdue St. Peter the Apostle  School, 70-58, for a 2-1 slate.

The event is organized by MMTL president Christian Tan with Johny Tam  as alumni operations head  and Horacio Lim as the commissioner.
