TALK ‘N Text got big lifts from five gunners as it routed Rain or Shine, 103-91, for a share of the lead in the PBA Governors’ Cup at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

KJ McDaniels tallied 37 points, 13 rebounds and five assists and got ample support from four locals as the KaTropa dominated the Elasto Painters in one of featured games in Petron Blaze Saturday Special.

Easily the most consistent among the TNT locals was Troy Rosario who cut loose with 16 points and grabbed nine rebounds, while Jayson Castro provided the much-needed leadership while finishing with 15 points, four rebounds and seven assists.

The two other TNT locals who shone on offense were Roger Pogoy and Don Trollano who finished with 12 points each.

The KaTropa, who defeated Blackwater last Wednesday, 135-107, gained a share of the lead with NLEX at 2-0 in the provisional standings.

The Elasto Painters, who were coming off a 96-90 win over Columbian Dyip last  Sept. 22, tumbled to their second loss in three outings.

The KaTropa led by as many as 15 points in the game, thanks to their excellent outside shooting which yielded 14 triples.

Import Joel Wright scored 20 points to lead the Elasto Painters, who  also got 19 points from Javee Mocon and 18 from James Yap. The Painters came no closer than at seven points late in the game.

Meanwhile, Gilas Pilipinas coach Tim Cone will readily convene the 15-man national training pool tomorrow, exactly two months before the 30th Southeast Asian Games.

In his advisory to the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas, Cone cited the limited eight-week window available to prepare the team as it defends its title in the biennial showpiece.

The SEA Games is set Nov. 30 to Dec. 11, and Cone has at least eight to 10 sessions to train the nationals. Cone and his 15-man pool kick off their training at the Meralco gym from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Cone will miss one practice on October 7 as Barangay Ginebra will be returning from Dubai by then following its PBA Governors’ Cup game against NLEX at the Coca-Cola Arena.
