DAVAO Occidental Cocolife Tigers finished the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League Datu Cup South Division elimination round on a bright note, beating Muntinlupa Cagers,88-82, at the Muntinlupa Sports Complex recently.
Mark Yee, the game’s best player, put up another sterling double-double performance as he scored 18 points and grabbed 13 rebounds for the Tigers owned by Claudine Bautista of DavOcc backed by Cocolife president Elmo Nobleza,FVP Joseph Ronquillo and AVP Rowena Asnan.
PBA veteran Leo Najorda and Bonbon Cutodio also provided the spark offensively to take control of the game in the early goings enroute to a convincing victory for the Tigers Homegrown Emman Calo and Louie Medalla ably filled the shoes left by court general Custodio who was ejected early in the fourth period, while big man Bogs Raymundo manned the paint area effectively preventing an uprising from the Muntilupa Cagers led by Dave Moralde and Allen Mangahas.
The victory sealed Davao’s top spot with 20-5 win-loss card going to the playoff stage.
Muntinlupa finished tied with two other teams.
But Batangas grabbed second by virtue of higher quotient score, while General Santos landed in fourth spot in the the said division of the league organized by Senator Manny Pacquiao.DS
