NLEX is now looking down on everybody in the provisional standings of the PBA Governors' Cup.
Thanks to a fiery second half, The Road Warriors flogged Rain or Shine, 111-91, to wrest the solo lead in the season-ending conference before an appreciative Wednesday crowd at the Cuneta Astrodome.
The Road Warriors clinched their fourth straight victory and seventh overall in eight outings, putting them on top of the heap just as the elimination phase is nearing its end.
They are actually in a tie with Talk 'N Text at 7-1, but the Warriors take the top spot owing to their victory over the KaTropa.
Manny Harris led the Road Warriors' onslaught, scoring 29 points that went with 12 rebounds and 11 assists in a triple-double performance well complemented by Jericho Cruz, JP Erram, Kiefer Ravena, Raul Soyud, and JR Quinahan who all scored in double figures.
It was a hear-rending loss for the Elasto Painters who paraded new import in Richard Ross, only to fall short in their bid.
The Painters tumbled to their second straigth loss and dropped to the cellar at 2-7.
The Elasto Painters, behind Ross and JV Mocon, engaged the Road Warriors in a close contest for most of the way in the first half, which the latter took by two points, 51-49.
The Elasto Painters though seemed to have cooled down as they entered the third, unable to flash the same intensity they showed in the first two quarters.
Their defense seemed to bog down as well. With Erram translating an excellent Ravena pass into a basket, Harris scoring on a breakaway slam dunk, and Quinahan sinking a triple from the left corner, the Road Warriors foudn themselves enjoying a 58-49 lead early in the third.
With the Painters still couldn't find their rhythm, the Road Warriors uncorked another scoring run to build a 68-53 lead, midway in the third.
The Painters fought back to move within 68-60, but Jericho Cruz sank a left corner triple and ignited a vicious salvo to finish the third well in control, 83-65.
