AS part of its preparations for the coming opening Community Basketball Association (CBA) in 2019, Pasig will now conduct tryouts for its basketball team at Double Play gym in Pasig City.
This was announced by Pasigueño team owner Kapitan Raymond Thomas Lising and team manager Kagawad Evan Rupisan during a meeting with CBA Pilipinas officials Carlo Maceda and Benjie Abad. in Pasig recently.
“We’re happy to join the CBA. Our main objective is to promote and enhance talent in the grassroots level,” said Lising.
“We want to give exposure to our players and help them nurture their personal development not only to become good basketball players, but a better person as well,” added Lising.
Rupisan, for his part, said he is confident that they can form a competitive team from Pasig's deep pool of talents.
“We are actually still in the process of selecting players and coaches from Pasig,” said Rupisan.
CBA, which was earlier launched late last year with multi-titled coach Pido Jarencio as commissioner and Coach Beaujing Acot as operations head, is set to hit the road late next month.
At least eight teams are expected to join the league.
Among the teams which have already signified their intention to participate are Pasig, Rizal, Paranaque, Quezon City, Bulacan, Angono, Malabon, Caloocan, Cavite, Manila, Valenzuela and Makati.
