BRT Sumisip Basilan-St. Clare shoots for a playoff berth as it plays lowly McDavid-La Salle Araneta today in the PBA D-League Foundation Cup at the Filoil Flying V Centre.
Gametime is 1:30 p.m.
In other games, Marinerong Pilipino eyes a top two spot in Group A in its 3:330 p.m. game against iWalk 3:30 p.m., while Asia’s Lashes Tomas Morato seeks to boost its playoff hopes when it collides with Hazchem in the last tussle at 5:30 p.m.
The Saints are coming off a 20-day break, playing their first game since beating Technological Institute of the Philippines, 85-70, last August 5.
With all due respect to their foes, coach Steve Tiu doesn’t feel like BRT Sumisip-St. Clare has been really tested yet despite winning in lopsided fashion all its three Group B matches.
“Hindi kami ma-push to the limit, kung hanggang saan ang team namin,” said Tiu, as the Saints’ average winning margin being 35.0 points.
“Gusto din sana namin makakuha ng close games habang nasa eliminations para makuha din namin jelling.”
Also unbeaten are the Skippers, who are on a four-game roll and are tipped to win over the Chargers.
Coach Yong Garcia knows the importance of having the twice-to-beat advantage in the quarterfinals for Marinerong Pilipino.
“Ang sabi ko nga, mate-test ang team namin. Sa next round, talagang malalakas na yung team namin kaya magandang chance ito sa amin na makaharap ng mga beteranong team,” said Garcia.
Eloy Poligrates has been the shining light for the Skippers, while Jay-R Alabanza and Jhonard Clarito are also producing huge numbers.
Marinerong Pilipino is fresh from last week’s 73-51 victory over Asia’s Lashes.
iWalk, for its part, cannot afford to lose this one as a defeat will put itself in a bind of making it to the next round. The Chargers currently sit in third place in their bracket with a 2-2 card.
