SAN Pedro College of Business Administration crushed University of the Philippines-Los Baños, 83-61, to extend its winning streak to three games in the 6th Laguna Colleges Universities Athletic Association (LACUAA) men’s basketball tournament at Trace College gym in Los Baños, Laguna.
Handled by coach Richard Peñaranda, the Tigers relied on John Michael Balboa and Angelo Rosales to beat the Maroons and join Trace College at the top in this tournament organized by BAP Region 4 head Leonardo Andres and LACUAA president Prof. Arnaldo M. Dilig.
Balboa finished with a team-high 26 points while Rosales added 21 points and 14 rebounds for the Tigers, who finished in fourth place last year.
Joseph Aaron Larana and Anton Villar finished with 27 points between them for UPLB, which suffered its third loss in as many matches.
In the other game, Colegio de San Agustin - Biñan defeated Laguna University, 98-70, for its second win in three outings.
The Golden Eagles rode on the game-long brilliance of Charles Benedic Luna and Ronaldo Fernandez in defeating Laguna University.
Luna scattered 21 points while Fernandez had 14 points for CSA-Biñan, which bowed to Trace College in its opening game.
Janne Junnel Bartolo, Cholo Lattore and Jonathan Vidal also played well for the Biñan City-based school, which is being handled by assistant coach Jhun Alarcon in the absence of head coach Pat Codiñera.
Ralph Ronald Laganzon finished with a game-high 30 points for the Green Buffalos, who suffered their fourth.straight loss.
