Tigers, Tams eye playoff slots

IRONCON-University of Santo Tomas and Far Eastern University seek to nail the two remaining PBA D-League playoff berths as they play separate foes today at the Ynares Sports Arena.

The Growling Tigers go up against also-ran FamilyMart-Enderun at 2 p.m., while the Tamaraws take on Centro Escolar University at 12 noon.

Although it sits in second spot at 6-2, Ironcon-UST is not yet in the playoffs and it needs to hurdle its final Aspirants' Group assignment to eliminate Che'Lu Bar and Grill in the playoff race via the quotient system.

Cignal-Ateneo, Go for Gold-CSB and St. Clare-Virtual Reality are safely in the playoffs.

The same thing goes to 6-3 FEU, which is also in a must-win situation to avoid getting bundled out of the playoff contention via the quotient system.

A loss will hand Marinerong Pilipino the remaining Foundation Group playoff berth.

The Tamaraws are expected to have a hard time, as the Scorpions are eyeing to secure the No. 1 ranking in the Foundation Group.

Aside from CEU, City of Valencia Bukidnon-SSC-R and Metropac-SBU have already made it to the next round.

City of Valencia Bukidnon-SSC-R and already eliminated Diliman-Gerry's clash in the last game of another Thursday tripleheader.

Aside from the victory, the Golden Harvest are looking for a Scorpions loss to the Tamaraws to clinch the top ranking in the Foundation Group.
