DUE to the effects of Taal Volcano’s eruption, the UAAP called off today’s high school boys’ basketball quadrupleheader at the Filoil Flying V Centre.

The games which was supposed to be played are Nazareth School of National University-University of Santo Tomas, University of the East-Ateneo, Adamson-UP Integrated School and Far Eastern University-Diliman-La Salle-Zobel.

Basketball commissioner Jensen Ilagan, upon receiving the memorandum by the league yesterday, said that the postponed matches will be played at a later date.

Action will resume on Sunday with another four-game bill at the San Juan arena.

The league also postponed today’s high school football matchday at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.

Affected by the cancellation were the match-ups between UST and NSNU, and La Salle-Zobel and FEU-Diliman.  These will also be held at a later date.

Matches will resume on Sunday at the same Malate venue.

Meantime, the NCAA, citing the health and safety of everyone, called off women’s volleyball matches at the Filoil Flying V Centre yesterday.

The matches which were supposed to be played yesterday are the 12 noon clash between San Beda and Lyceum of the Philippines University and the 2 p.m. duel between University of Perpetual Help System Dalta and Letran.
