UNITED City Football Club lost another vital cog in last season’s Philippines Football League championship run in Senegalese striker Robert Lopez Mendy.
The club announced through its social media accounts yesterday the departure of Mendy, who is joining a new team in Cambodia, while praising on his contributions for its successful campaign last year.
“Thank You, Mendy, and all the best for your new venture,” the club said.
Mendy was best remembered for a hat-trick in UCFC’s 10-0 rout newcomer Maharlika FC midway in the tournament, which held inside the Carmona, Cavite bubble.
Last December, midfielder OJ Porteria also left UCFC to play in Thai League 1 club Ratchaburi Mitr Phol, while Manny Ott has recently linked with Malaysia’s top-tier team Melaka United.
UCFC is currently preparing for its AFC Champions League debut this year.
Japan’s Kawasaki Frontale and two-time champions Guangzhou FC of China will be UCFC’s opponents along with a playoff winner the teams in Group I of the top-tier continental football tournament.Publication Source : People's Tonight
