THE Philippine National Women’s Softball team --Blu Girls -- continues to show that its quest for a spot in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics is on track by moving up the world rankings after impressive finishes in world-class competitions this year has bolstered its place in the WBSC world rankings.
From being in the 15th, the Philippines has moved up two places and is now ranked No. 13 all over the world, according to the new web platform of the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC), which they launched last December 17, 2018.
“I am extremely proud of this turnout for the RP Blu Girls since I’ve seen how hard they’ve worked the past year and how consistent they have been in competitions and tournaments through the years. We can only expect greater things from these dynamic ladies.” said Jean Henri Lhuillier, ASAPhil President and long-time softball patron.
The rank improvement of the RP Blu Girls comes as a ca result of consistently performing very strongly in the past competitions this year.
After finishing fourth in the recently concluded Asian Games in Jakarta, Indonesia and playing strongly in the WBSC XVI Women’s Softball World Championship 2018 held in Chiba, Japan against strong competitors from around the world.
The Blu Girls continues to gear up for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and will play for a qualifying tournament against Chinese-Taipei, China, Australia, and New Zealand, teams they have beaten in the past 2 years.
