Muros-Posadas: Thankful to all frontliners.

AS the undisputed long jump queen, Elma Muros Posadas brought numerous awards and honors to the country in the 80s up to the 90s.

A proven winner,  Muros bagged a total of 15 gold medals in the Southeast Asian Games  from 1983 up to 2001.

But Muros-Posadas would readily give the honor to medical personnel, health workers, policemen and other frontliners  now serving the country in the fight against the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

"Ang mga frontliners -- doktor, nurses, policemen, security people and supermarket/grocery workers -- ang tunay na gold medalists ng buhay natin, "said Muros-Posadas in a statement posted on the official Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) website.

"Sila ang mga tunay na bayani sa panahon ngayon," added the 53-year-old pride of Magdiwang, Romblon.

It has been more than a month since the government imposed the enhanced community quarantine to stop the spread of the disease.

And while most people are told to stay at home, most of these frontliners stayed at  work to provide basic services.

"They say 'Not all heroes wear capes, some wear lab coats. It's  true in the case of our frontliners who have been our heroes against COVID-19, fulfilling their sworn oath to serve the nation regardless of the situation,"  claimed  Muros-Posadas.

Hero namin kayo,” said Muros-Posadas.

Maraming salamat po.” she added.

A two-time Olympic Games campaigner in 1984 and 1996,  Muros-Posadas said fighting the COVID-19 pandemic is far different from those battles she have won in the past.

She also expressed her gratitude  to President  Duterte and Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) Chairman William Ramirez for extending their help to Team Philippines, frontline workers and to the Filipino people during this COVID crisis.

“Maraming salamat kay President  Duterte at kay PSC Chairman  Ramirez. Good heart talaga si Chairman.
