SOUTHEAST Asian Games gold medalists Pauline Lopez and Samuel Morrison led the winners in the recently-concluded Smart/MVP Sports Foundation Speed Kicking Championships.
Lopez, who is currently in Subic during this quarantine, ruled the female senior featherweight category by besting Borongan City's Tricia Padua, who bagged the silver. Sugbo Taekwondo Club's Mayn Coran and Iloilo's Cindy Joy Diasnes settled for the bronze medal.
Morrison, for his part, beat National University's Gabriel Soria for the male senior welter-heavyweight gold. University of the Philippines' Sean Rodriguez and Villaron Villaron of College of Saint Benilde took home the bronze.
Other female senior gold medalists were UP's Nikki Oliva (fin-flyweight), University of Santo Tomas' Aidaine Laxa (bantamweight) and Gianne Chiong (light-heavyweight).
NU's Arven Alcantara (feather-lightweight), JL TKD's Francis Rodillas (finweight), Twist N Kicks' Justin Macario (flyweight) and One Mind TKD Abra's Hadzel Bayquen (bantamweight) were the other men's senior gold medal winners.
The Philippine Taekwondo Association's newest online competition, which is said to be the first in the world and only in the Philippines, had attracted 1,600 athletes.
