Cool Smashers gain PVL s’finals

DEFENDING champion Creamline booked another Final Four trip, while Pacifictown-Army made quick work of winless BaliPure to press its own semis bid in the  PVL Reinforced Conference yesterday at the Filoil Flying V Centre.

The Cool Smashers spoiled the long overdue debut of Motolite’s franchise player Myla Pablo to carve out a 25-15, 25-20, 25-23 victory, while the Lady Troopers solidified their hold of third spot with a 25-21, 25-20, 25-21 conquest of the Water  Defenders.

Jia Morado was at her usual best in orchestrating plays with 26 excellent sets as Creamline extended its winning streak to six after a season-opening loss to PetroGazz, while Pacifictown-Army rose to 4-3.

“That’s the most important thing – to recover from a loss. It was a must-win for us para mapaganda ang ranking namin at medyo safe kami sa top four. Malaking bagay na nanalo kami ngayon,” said Lady Troopers coach Kungfu Reyes.

The victory also gave Pacifictown-Army the needed separation of joint fourth placers BanKo-Perlas and Motolite (2-5) with three matches left in its elimination round campaign.

Ukraine’s Olena Lymareva-Flenk came through with 15 points while United States’ Jenelle Jordan had two blocks and two ssrvice aces to finish with 11 points for the Lady Troopers.
