THERE is not stopping Cignal HD Spikers from officially joining the Premier Volleyball League.
“Yes,” Sienna Olaso, Cignal TV’s vice president of channels and content, told People’s Journal yesterday when asked about the HD Spikers’ status in the now-pro league.
Cignal HD became the third club to confirm its participation for the Open Conference, which will be played inside a bubble soon, after PLDT Home Fibr and Peak Form.
Rachel Anne Daquis will banner the HD Spikers along with Fil-Am playmaker Alohi Robins-Hardy, Fiola Ceballos, Ranya Musa, Roselyn Doria Janine Marciano, May Luna and libero Jheck Dionela.
Not to be outdone are the Power Hitters, who also became officially a part of the growing PVL family.
PLDT last played in the PVL’s predecessor V-League in 2015, where it swept Open and Reinforced Conference championships.
“Sana matuloy namin yung magandang legacy ng PLDT sa PVL,” said coach Roger Gorayeb.
New acquisitions Rhea Dimaculangan, Isa Molde, Eli Soyud, Marist Layug, Chin Basas, Iza Viray and Yeye Gabarda will try to give the Power Hitters an impressive PVL debut along with holdovers Shola Alvarez, Aiko Urdas and libero Alyssa Eroa.
The PVL is now plotting for a May 8 opening.
“We have 10 teams right now but there is a possibility we will have 12 teams,” said PVL president Ricky Palou in a recent interview.
Creamline, which ruled the Open Conference via a 20-0 sweep in 2019, leads the stacked field.Publication Source : People's Tonight
