JOSE Rizal University shoots for its second straight win against Mapua today in the NCAA womens volleyball tournament at the Filoil Flying V Centre.

The Lady Bombers, semifinalists last season, are tipped to prevail in the 2 p.m. clash with the winless Lady Cardinals.

University of Perpetual Help System Dalta and Lyceum of the Philippines University - locked in a four-way tie at 1-2 with JRU and Letran, collide in the only other game at 2 p.m.

Without last season’s MVP Shola Alvarez who has already graduated, the Lady Bombers struggled in the first two games before finally pulling through over the Lady Knights, 25-23, 14-25, 25-15, 25-16, last Tuesday.

JRU unveiled a gem in rookie Mary May Ruiz, who had 18 points, 20 digs and six receptions, while Dolly Verzosa and Sydney Niegos also churned out double-digit numbers.

Mapua, tied with Emilio Aguinaldo College, tries to rebound from last week’s 15-25, 12-25, 13-25 loss to defending champion Arellano University.

Both the Lady Altas and the Lady Pirates are coming off losses.

Perpetual Help dropped a 26-24, 20-25, 13-25, 21-25 decision to College of Saint Benilde last Tuesday, while LPU bowed to San Beda, 21-25, 22-25, 16-25, a week ago.
